After completing radiology residency at Hurley Medical Center and receiving board certification in nuclear radiology, radiology, and pediatric radiology Dr. Mukkamala became a leading radiologist. Devoted to repay to his community, Apparao Mukkamala established Chinmaya Vijaya Orphanage. This orphanage offers food, shelter, health care, and education for orphans. Chinmaya Vijaya primarily teaches young girls self-respect and traditional values so that they can grow into socially responsible residents. Located on a five acre area of donated land, the orphanage includes lush vegetation and scenic views of a theme park and local entertainment. Children here begin the day with meditation and yoga and attend school during the day. The children here also enjoy fun activities, such as playing outdoors and learning classical Indian dance. He also enjoys the title of treasurer of the Chinmaya Organization of Rural Development.

After finishing his undergraduate medical education from India, he shifted to the United States to complete internship from St. Margaret’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Post this, he did one year of surgical residency at Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and a radiology residency at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. Being the president of Michigan’s Associated Radiologists of Flint, Dr. Mukkamala has managed a team of highly competent and skilled medical imaging professionals.
